COVID-19 has caused unprecedented shock to our lives and livelihoods. Addressing, and re-emerging from the trauma of the pandemic and the global economic slowdown — these define the call and challenge of the times. Asia Society Philippines, together with McKinsey & Company, will be staging a live online conversation on “The Imperative of our Time: Safeguarding our Lives and Livelihoods and the Return to the Next Normal”.
On 07 May 2020, 3 PM, via Zoom, experts from McKinsey will discuss the economic impact of COVID-19 on the Philippines and ASEAN, how people, industries, and nations have been affected, and some emerging paths to navigate the world towards the "next normal.”
The webcast will feature Kristine Romano, the Managing Partner of the McKinsey Philippines, and Rebecca Yeoh, Associate Partner, lead of McKinsey’s efforts to study COVID-19’s macroeconomic impacts for ASEAN countries. They will share new and key insights from McKinsey research on COVID-19 and its impact in the Philippines and around the region. The presentations and conversation will be moderated by Coco Alcuaz, Executive Director of the Makati Business Club.

About the Speakers:
Kristine Romano is the Managing Partner of McKinsey and Co. Philippines office. She helps public- and private-sector entities in the Philippines transform operations, improve performance, and unlock growth. Increasingly, her client work involves digital strategy across industries, including financial services, healthcare, education, infrastructure, transportation, consumer goods, and the public sector. Kristine holds an MPA in International Development from Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and a BS degree in Business Administration and Accountancy from the University of the Philippines.
Rebecca Yeoh is an Associate Partner with McKinsey & Company’s Singapore office. She works extensively in the public sector, with a focus on economic development work. Rebecca was previously with McKinsey’s Dubai office and has served clients across Asia, the Middle East and Australia. Rebecca has worked with government entities and government-linked corporations across Asia. Rebecca received her BA from the University of Cambridge in Social and Political Sciences. She also received her MBA from Harvard Business School.
Our moderator, Coco Alcuaz, is Executive Director of the Makati Business Club. Prior to joining MBC, he was Bureau Chief at Bloomberg News, and Business News Head and Anchor at ABS-CBN News Channel.
